This is a very simple and easy Indian curry dish. Soya has a lot of protein. I love soya chinks, probably its my favorite alternative to chicken. Also the cooking time is very less for the soya chunks. I have combined soya chunks with green peas to make a curry. Lets see how to make it.
Serves : 2
Approximate Total Cost :$2
Ingredients
Soya chunks - 1 cup
Green Peas - 3/4 cup
Onion - 1 (chopped)
Tomato -2 (chopped)
Ginger - 1 tablespoon (minced)
Garlic - 1 tablespoon (minced)
Coriander Powder - 2 tablespoons
Chilli Powder - 1 tablespoon
Cilantro - to garnish
Salt - to taste
For Tempering
Dry Red Chilli - 1
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tablespoon
Cumin seeds -1/4 tablespoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tablespoon
Fennel seeds - 1/4 tablespoon
Urad dal - 1/4 tablespoon
Method
1. Boil water in a pan. Add the soy chunks, cover it with a lid, switch off the flame and set aside for 20 mins. This will cook the soya chunks. Then drain the soya chunks and wash it down with cold water.
2. By the time the soya chunks cook lets make the curry. Add oil in a hot skillet and add the ingredients for tempering and cook for a minute.
3. Add the onion, ginger, garlic and tomato and saute them for 10 minutes until they melt down. Then add the coriander powder, chilli powder and salt and saute for 2 minutes.
4. Then Add 2 cups of water to make the curry. Let it boil.
5. Add the soya chunks and peas and allow it to cook for another 10 minutes until it is cooked. Allow the gravy to boil to get the desired consistency for the gravy. Garnish with cilantro. Serve it with rice or chapatis.
